The 34th Saunders Lakeland Mountain Marathon was held over the weekend of the 7th / 8th July 2012.
Starting at Wasdale Head competitors fanned out both east and west of Wastwater before returning to the overnight camp at the remote Scalderskew Farm. Despite the terrible long-term forecast the weather stayed dry, leading to a lively midcamp. On the Sunday the courses were mostly confined to the fells between Wastwater and Ennerdale, providing good mountain running with challenging navigation in the cloud shrouding the high tops.

The race organisers would like to acknowledge and thank The National Trust, Forestry Commission, Natural England and the commoners and tenant farmers who helped us to stage this event.
